"Hello Kitty" is the fourth single released off of Lavigne's self-titled fifth studio album, preceded by the tracks "Here's To Never Growing Up," "Rock N Roll" and "Let Me Go" featuring husband Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. The "Hello Kitty" video can be viewed here.
In the video, Lavigne moshi monsters struts around what appears to be a Japan-inspired city, a candy store and a sushi restaurant, wearing an outrageous cupcake-adorned skirt, a black jacket and multi-colored streaks in her partially-shaved blonde hair.
The song is also a vast difference in sound compared to previous releases from Lavigne. Known for her more pop-rock edge over the years through hits like "Sk8er Boi," "Girlfriend" and "What The Hell," moshi monsters "Hello Kitty" features a severe dubstep-inspired beat, much like the work of DJs such as Skrillex.
Lyrics for the song include, "Come come kitty kitty / You're so pretty pretty / Don't go kitty kitty / Stay with me / Come come kitty kitty / You're moshi monsters so silly silly / Don't go kitty kitty / Play with me."

Two days ago, Avril Lavigne ‘s “Hello Kitty” austin mahone video premiered on the singer’s website austin mahone and, eventually, made its way to YouTube. Upon watching, we here at Idolator declared it to be the worst thing you’d watch all week . Hours later, other outlets such as Billboard , GQ , USA Today and E! Online followed suit, all equally appalled at the disastrous clip.
But while many online entities have been citing the seemingly racist overtones of the clip the song and video reference Japanese pop and kawaii culture, while the visual also employs Japanese dancers, hence Avril receiving a similar backlash to the one Sky Ferreira faced last week over her “I Blame Myself” clip we were offended because the song just flat-out sucks and the video comes off, to us, as age-inappropriate.
Interestingly, other sites also made much of the fact that “Hello Kitty” was supposedly pulled from YouTube, when in fact the video had an early premiere austin mahone on Lavigne’s website, and the only pulling was done with the illegally uploaded clips that followed. It’s now officially available to watch via Avril’s YouTube channel. Or, again, you can simply watch it here and make your own mind up on the matter.

I hope this is Avril's comeback, not musically, but by getting her name back out there. This video is only officially being released as a radio single in Asia. Her next worldwide single is "Give You What You Like," and I hope all the buzz this has created only helps that song chart because it has the potential to be a #1 hit in my opinion.
