Although the Sankei financial newspaper is a perfectly reliable source, the major question here is whether its prediction of a Resident Evil reveal at E3 are based on insider knowledge or simply an educated guess.
And then there’s the matter of E3. Set for June, the publisher plans to show off a major game of some sort for the PS4. Fans are getting sanook increasingly sanook hyped up for the event, as they take it to mean that a new Resident Evil game is on the horizon.
The article in general is about Capcom lagging behind in terms of smartphone success, which is now just as important in Japan as the console market. There are several other mentions of when a new Resident Evil will be unveiled sanook but still nothing to suggest concrete information.
What exactly Capcom intends to do with Resident Evil is hard to guess at given the harsh critical response to Resident Evil 6 and disappointing sales of only 5.6 million (compared to a target of 6+ million). A series reboot sanook is a common theory amongst fans, but there’s been no word one way or the other from Capcom.
So far Capcom’s support sanook for the next gen has been fairly timid, sanook with only Xbox One exclusive Dead Rising 3 and forthcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Deep Down (as well as multiformat download Strider).
