In 2015, the sixth chapter in the Resident Evil series, which is based off of the incredibly popular yout video game series created by Capcom, will more than likely theaters nationwide; however, if things continue on the path they are now, it may very well be the swan song for the popular series.
The people over at Collider had a chance to sit down with the film’s director Paul W.S. Anderson , who revealed that he is currently working yout on the script for the new film, and the title on the front of said script yout is Resident Evil: The Final Chapter .
He really didn’t give away any details in the terms of the plot, character development, or anything along those lines; however, he did say that the script is indeed being written with the 3D aspect already in mind.
“I firmly believe that you have to start thinking about the 3D even in the writing process.  You cannot make a great 3D movie by just—it’s not some special sauce that you can sprinkle on.  You make the dish and then you make hot sauce on top—it doesn’t work well like that.” Anderson tells Collider . “Yes, you can do a last minute conversion.  You cannot shoot the movie thinking about 3D and do a last minute conversion and it can be a 3D movie, it’s just not gonna be a great 3D movie.  I approach my films right from the inception, I kind of write action scenes and pick out locations that I think and know—because I’ve done so much of it—will translate very well into 3D.  Then when we build the sets, we build sets that I know will shoot well in 3D.  It’s really, even from this point, 3D is something I’m definitely thinking about.”
So there you have it, directly from the mouth of the one person who would know best. Nothing is set in stone at the moment, but we may very well be approaching the final film in a long, popular franchise.
Anderson has said that there is no definitive release date at this time; however, as he gets closer to completing the script I am sure that we will have a much better idea at when the film will be targeting release.
What are your thoughts on the potential of the franchise finally yout coming to an end? How would you like to see Alice and the rest of the team go out when all is said and done? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
